Speed Alert software written by Smart Car Technologies of Sydney has enabled IES to better manage and report on the safety aspects of Drivers.

Using custom black spots identified by industry, local authorities and the IES business, the application has been tailored to best fit the IES model of high safety.

By pairing a GPS receiver with the already successful handhelds deployed to the vehicles, the drivers now have audible alerts to assist them in their daily duties.

Each vehicle can be reported on with live data being sent back in real time to the server enabling managers to quickly identify and address any in discrepancies a driver may be showing. The data can be downloaded and placed over a Google Earth map to illustrate the journey and if any breaches of speed limit occurred by highlighting them in varying colours. Graphical representations can also be produced with a line plotted against actual speed limits.

Unlike most other speed software, Speed Alert doesn’t just work if a vehicle exceeds a maximum speed limit of 100kph; it works on varying speed such as School Zones and Road Works (subject to data being provided if the works are of lengthy duration). This software has been very well received by the business with drivers now requesting this specifically following a successful pilot in Sydney.
